Women’s Tennis Has Successful First Day At West Virginia Invite

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - The Ball State women's tennis team had a successful first day of action at the West Virginia Invite Friday.
The Cardinals started the day off taking all three doubles matches from Navy. The BSU duo of Victoria Sec alongside teammate Jessica Braun took down Aimee Dervishian and Annalise Klopfer by a score of 6-4. Livia Lukacs and Rebecca Herrington also registered a 6-4 doubles win while teammates Amy Kaplan and Emma Peeler earned a 6-2 defeat over Amanda Cyr and Jillian Taggart.
Ball State then closed the day playing host West Virginia in singles action. The Cardinals defeated the Mountaineers 4-2. Sec earned a straight set victory over Giovanna Caputo, 6-4, 6-3 while Herrington took her match over Nicole Roc winning the tie breaker, 10-4. Lukacs and Peeler rounded out the wins for BSU today, taking their respective opponents down in straight sets. Lukacs victory clinched match point for the Cardinals.
