Tiegan Taylor leads Cardinals with 75 to open Cardinal Cup

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. -- Tiegan Taylor opened with a round of 75, as the Ball State women's golf team hung near the middle of the pack Friday in a quality field at the Cardinal Cup.
BSU fired an opening-round 307 as a team at the University of Louisville Golf Club, good for an 11th-place tie with Kansas at the end of day one.
Taylor is tied for 25th place to lead Ball State individually. The team also counted a 76 from Hadley Moritz and a pair of 78s from Liz Kim and Manon Tounalom.
Campbell leads the way after a first-round 292 (+4) and will enter Saturday's second round leading Washington by three strokes and No. 20 Kentucky, the top team in the field, by four. Ten of the 17 teams competing are ranked among the nation's top 100.
The second round will be played Saturday, with Ball State's tee times starting at 9:50 a.m. off the 10th tee. The final round is set for Sunday.
