Cunningham, Kostouros fire even-par rounds on day two in Dallas
DALLAS, Texas -- The scoring was so good again Monday at the Trinity Forest Invitational that, despite a pair of even-par rounds from Jack Cunningham and Yianni Kostouros, the Ball State men's golf team was only able to move up one spot.
The scoring average for the field, which was a remarkable 72.07 in Sunday's opening round, tailed off only slightly to 72.25 in round two.
The Cardinals' team score Monday of 289 (+5) was one better than its opening round, and no Ball State player shot worse than 74. Yet, BSU finds itself in 12th place at 11 over par with one round left to play at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
Tournament host SMU (-20) backed up its opening 273 with a 275 in round two and leads by four shots over College of Charleston. Baylor, North Texas and Little Rock are also within eight shots of the Mustangs.
Little Rock's Justin Warren is the individual leader at 12 under par after rounds of 64 and 66. Thomas Rosenmueller of North Texas is two shots back.
Keegan Bronnenberg (+1), who opened with a 1-under-par 70, is the top Ball State player in a tie for 30th. Cunningham is one shot further back in a tie for 43rd. Kostouros and CJ Jones are tied for 52nd.
The third and final round will be played Tuesday with split tee start at 8 a.m. CT (9 ET). Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
