Women’s Tennis Finds Success On Day One Of Hidden Dual

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team opened its fall season on a high note, finding success in both singles and doubles play Friday, at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center. The Cardinals are hosting Dayton, Detroit Mercy and Murray State in a hidden dual format.
In singles play, Ball State won 10 of its 12 matches today. The Cardinals closed the day with a dominating performance over Murray State. Audrey Berger, Rebecca Herrington and Isabelle Dohanics put their respective opponents away quickly, only allowing the Racers to take four total games from Cardinals' in each match. Peyton Gollhofer defeated Sara Loncarevic in a three set thriller and teammates Sarah Swiderski along with Victoria Sec closed the day with straight set victories.
Against Detroit, the Cardinals struggled only taking two victories from the Titans. Those wins came from Berger and Rebecca Herrington.
The Cardinals took on Dayton in doubles action and would take all three matches from the Flyers. Berger and Dohanics along with teammates Gollhofer and Sec each won their respective matches by a score of 6-3. Herrington and Swiderski defeated Mary Brascia and Emily Zargham, 6-4.
The Ball State women's tennis team will wrap up its hidden dual play Saturday at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center weather permitting. The Cardinals will start with doubles play against Detroit Mercy at 10:30 a.m. If inclement weather does occur the Cardinals will play indoors at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
