Women’s Tennis Opens Fall Play At Home This Weekend

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team is set to open its 2018 fall season this weekend when it hosts Detroit Mercy, Dayton and Murray State.
The event will be a hidden dual format, and all matches will be played simultaneously Friday, Sept. 21 (9:30 a.m. start) and Saturday, Sept. 22 (11 a.m.). All matches will be played at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center where there are 12 courts available. If inclement weather occurs, the matches will be moved indoors to the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
The Cardinals will compete in three other fall tournaments this season: at Purdue in West Lafayette, Indiana (Sept. 28-30), at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regional in Chattanooga, Tennessee (Oct. 11-15) and at Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Michigan (Nov. 2-4).
Ball State returns seven letterwinners; senior Audrey Berger, senior Isabelle Dohanics, senior Peyton Gollhofer, sophomore Lilya Hadab, junior Rebecca Herrington, sophomore Victoria Sec and senior Sarah Swiderski. The Cardinals welcome their lone freshman to the program in Livia Lukacs from Pecs, Hungary.
The Cardinals are coached by Max Norris who begins his sixth season at the helm of the women's tennis team. Norris guided the Cardinals to their first-ever Mid-American Conference regular season and tournament titles along with a berth to the NCAA tournament in 2016. Over the last five seasons, Norris has coached the Cardinals to an impressive 86-32 (.728) overall record and a 28-10 (.736) MAC ledger.
