Baseball Cardinals Earn ABCA Academic Award for Third Straight Year

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State baseball team was one of three Mid-American Conference teams to earn the Team Academic Excellence Award from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), the organization recently announced.
A record number of teams were recognized with the 2017-18 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award. In total, 287 college and high school programs received this year's award, including 48 from the NCAA Division I ranks. Western Michigan and Toledo were the other MAC teams to receive the honor.
Ball State is one of only 16 Division I programs to earn the award for three straight years.
The ABCA's Team Academic Excellence Award honors high school and college programs coached by ABCA members that post a grade-point average above a 3.0 for the most recent academic year.
Ball State wrapped up the 2018 season with a 32-26 record and finished tied for second in the MAC standings with a 17-10 league ledger.
