
WBB Hires Former Mizzou Standout Bri Kulas As New Assistant Coach

MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State head women's basketball coach Brady Sallee has announced the hiring of Bri Kulas as an assistant coach. Kulas replaces former assistant coach Tennile Adams who left to become an assistant at Wright State.
"Through the hiring process, Bri absolutely checked every box and proved to be the best fit as our newest assistant coach," Sallee said. "She was an intense talent as a player at the highest levels in college, she played professionally and she started her young coaching career with programs that believe in a lot of the same things we do. I look forward to going to work with Bri and the rest of my staff as we continue to build this program and reach new heights."
A two-year standout and All-SEC selection at Missouri as a player, Kulas spent the last two seasons as the graduate student manager at her alma mater. As a member of the Tigers staff, Kulas played an integral part in opponent film and video breakdown. Her other duties included the oversight of the scout team, position breakdown and marketing for the Tiger Paws and Show Me Squad, along with numerous other duties. Â
Prior to her return to Missouri, Kulas was an assistant coach at Johnson County Community College (2015-16). As a member of the Cavaliers staff, she mentored players with on-court coaching, played a crucial role in recruiting and handled film breakdown. She also oversaw the team's study hall program. With her help, JCCC went 30-0 during the regular season, won the East Jayhawk Conference title and advanced to the NJCAA Region VI Division II finals.
As a player, Kulas accumulated 1,008 points in two seasons at Missouri to become the 32nd member of the program's 1,000-point club. She led the Tigers in scoring both seasons and was a two-time All-SEC selection.
As a senior in 2013-14, Kulas was a first-team All-SEC selection by the league's head coaches and a second-team All-SEC honors from the Associated Press. She averaged 18.3 points per game, which ranked second in the SEC. Â
As a junior in 2012-13, Kulas was a second-team All-SEC honoree after registering 13.8 points per game, which ranked ninth among SEC players. Â She led the Tigers in scoring, rebounding, made field goals, made free throws and minutes played.
After Kulas completed her senior season, the San Antonio Stars selected her with the 28th pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft. She also played professionally in Spain for Gran Canaries and Rivas and in Germany for Halle Lions.
Kulas began her collegiate playing career at Kansas State (2010-11), before transferring to Johnson County Community College (2011-12). As a player for the Cavaliers, Kulas was named an NJCAA Division II All-American after she led the team to a 32-3 ledger, an East Jayhawk Conference title and a perfect 18-0 mark in conference play.
A native of Overland Park, Kansas, Kulas earned a bachelor's degree in parks, recreation and tourism with an emphasis is sports management. She also pursued her master's degree in educational, school and counseling psychology with an emphasis in positive coaching.
