Track & Field Places 11 on Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - A total of 11 members of the Ball State track & field program were named to the 2018 Women's Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team as announced Wednesday (May 30) by the league office.
To qualify for Academic All-MAC honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for their particular sport. First year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residency are not eligible.

Of Ball State's 11 honorees, two earn the award for the sixth time in their careers, as seniors Gabby Sims and Anna-Kay West swept the indoor and outdoor honors for the third straight season.

Three Ball State student-athletes pick up the honor for the fourth time in their careers, as senior Adrienne Mayfield, junior Regan Lewis and junior Peyton Stewart swept indoor and outdoor honors for the second consecutive year.

Two Cardinals earn the award for both the third time in their careers and the third time in the 2017-18 academic year, as sophomores Peyton Kneadler and Maritza Rodriguez were named to the 2017 Academic All-MAC Team for cross country and the 2018 Academic All-MAC Teams for indoor and outdoor track & field.

In addition, senior Kitty Taylor earns the award for the third time in her career, and the second time this academic year, after also being named to the 2017 outdoor track & field and 2017 cross country squads.

Sophomores Megan Graves, Amber Jones and Kelsey Walters also completed this year's track & field sweep, picking up the award for the second time in their careers.

Ball State's 11 honorees are now eligible to be named a MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete which is voted on by the faculty athletic representatives from each MAC institution. The award is presented to student-athletes from the Academic All-MAC Team who have excelled in athletics and academics.
