Field Hockey Adds Five to 2018-19 Roster

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State field hockey team is excited to announce the addition of Callie Rumbaugh, Arantxa Rosainz, Grace Bolesta, Laura Taschner and Alex Conrad to the 2018-19 roster.
Callie Rumbaugh, a Lancaster, Pennsylvania native, earned four varsity letters at Conestoga Valley. The 2017 team captain tallied six career goals and 23 career assists. Throughout her career, Rumbaugh was all-conference honorable mention, two-time first team all –conference and two-time all-league. She also earned the NFHCA National Academic award as a junior. With a 3.93 grade-point average, Rumbaugh has been on the honor roll all four years of high school. She plans to major in exercise science at Ball State.
Arantxa Rosainz is another new Cardinal that also boasts a 3.9 GPA. The midfielder is a transfer student from LIU Post where she was part of two NCAA Division II nation championship runner-up teams. Rosainz was also named to the 2016 Rookie team and the Second Team All-American team while at LIU Post. The Guadalajara, Mexico native has also racked up a multitude of awards in the club field hockey world. Rosainz has been part of national indoor championships, open nationals championships, national hockey 5 championships and a U-21 national championship. She also competed in the 2016 Pan American Junior Games. Rosainz will major in visual communication once at Ball State.
Grace Bolesta is coming to Ball State from St. Louis, Missouri where she earned three varsity letters at Cor Jesu Academy. She marked 14 total career goals and six career assists. Bolesta helped her team to three final fours, including one state runner-up. She also competed for the Aim Field Hockey Club where she was part of multiple top finishes. Off the field, Bolesta has a GPA of 3.77 and is a four year member of the National Honor Society. She will major in art education at Ball State.
Laura Taschner is also in the education field, majoring in early childhood education at Ball State. The Delaware native is a three year letterwinner at Tower Hill School. Taschner tallied 41 career goals and 10 career assists earning her first team all-conference as a junior and senior along with second team all-state as a senior. She was part of a state-runner up team as a junior and senior. Taschner also earned letters in indoor track, lacrosse, basketball and soccer.
Alex Conrad comes to Ball State to help on the defensive side of the ball. She was a three-time captain and named second team all-state as a junior while competing at Ballard High School. The Louisville, Kentucky native was also named to the all-state team as a junior and senior. Conrad also competed for four years for IFHCK where she competed at the National Club Championships for three years in a row. With a perfect 4.0 GPA, she was on honor roll for four years, National Honor Society for one year, Beta Club for two years and Mu Alpha Theta for two years. She will major in engineering at Ball State.
"We are excited to welcome the 2018 signees to our Cardinal field hockey family," head field hockey coach Stephanie Bernthal said. "This group is passionate about our mission of pursuing MAC championships and being excellent on and off the field. We look forward to their arrival in the fall and what each young woman will bring to our squad."
The Cardinals will kick off their 2018 season with a scrimmage against Indiana on Aug. 18.
