Cunningham, Makris pace Cardinals on day one
Schedule Note: Saturday's third round has been cancelled because of inclement weather. The teams will play the final round Sunday with tee times starting at 9 a.m.
FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- The Ball State men's golf team is ninth after Friday's opening 36 holes at Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Championship.
The Cardinals posted rounds of 301 and 300 on the South Course at the Vanderbilt Legends Club to end the day at 601 (+33).
Jack Cunningham (+7) and Michael Makris (+7) are the top Cardinals individually in a tie for 29th place. Cunningham's 1-over 72 in the second round was BSU's best of the day.
Liberty (+2) sits atop the team leaderboard with three top-10 teams chasing. No. 7 Alabama (+4) is second, followed directly by No. 4 Vanderbilt (+7) and No. 6 Florida (+11). A total of seven top-70 teams are in the 15-team field.
Vanderbilt's John Augenstein (-3) and Alabama's Davis Shore (-3) share the individual lead.
The third of this weekend's four rounds is slated for Saturday with an 11 a.m. shotgun start, though a threatening forecast could alter the schedule. Live scoring throughout the event is available at golfstat.com.
