Men's Tennis Defeats IUPUI 5-2 In Mid-Week Action

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team (13-8) defeated IUPUI (7-15) 5-2 in mid-week non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at the West Indy Racquet Club.
In doubles action, the Cardinals earned the first point of the day by winning two of the three matches. Nemanja Guzina and partner Collin Rigney opened up the day with a 6-2 win over Bradley Luetschwager and Grant Weaver. At the number three spot, Chris Adams and Tom Carney dropped a 6-2 decision to David Beasley and Grant Esposito. After that, Marko Guzina and Conner Andersen clinched the point after taking down Ethan Mardanus-Budio and Jac Newis, 6-3 on court two.
Marko Guzina put up Ball State 2-0 with a straight set win , 6-4, 6-0, over Newis. IUPUI earned its first point of the day at the No. 5 spot and then tied the match up 2-2 after registering a 6-4, 6-4 defeat over Nemanja Guzina on the top court. The Cardinals then took the remaining singles positions from the Jaguars, four, six, three in that order for the victory.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues non-conference play when it plays at Notre Dame Sunday. First serve is at 5 p.m.
