2017-18 (Redshirt Junior): Posted a 9-2 overall record and a 5-1 dual singles mark . . . went 4-1 in fall action . . . earned spring wins over IU Southeast (2/3/18), Detroit Mercy (2/24/18) and Taylor (3/2/18) . . . played in 20 doubles competitions mainly with teammate Nemanja Guzina on court one . . . helped the Cardinals to their 34th appearance in the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
2016-17 (Junior): Redshirt
2015-16 (Sophomore): Ended fall action with a 6-3 overall singles mark . . . earned back-to-back victories at the Milwaukee Classic with wins over Marquette and Wisconsin (9/18/15) and then mimicked that performance at the Purdue Fall Invitational with victories over the University of Indianapolis and Eastern Kentucky (9/25/15) . . . closed out fall play with a straight set defeat over Toledo’s Serjen Olemdo (10/30/15) . . . won four doubles matches with teammate Conner Andersen.
2014-15 (Freshman): Named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team . . . Earned 12 singles victories . . . went 6-4 at the No. 6 singles position . . . started spring play with a 3-1 mark after claiming victories over Detroit, Eastern Illinois and Cleveland State . . . closed non-conference action with a straight set defeat over IU Southeast’s Chris Braun (4/7/15) . . . teamed up with Ray Leonard for an 8-5 spring mark in dual action going 1-0 on court one and 7-5 on court two . . . the twosome ended the season on a high note with a 6-2 MAC win over Binghamton’s Ismael Dinia and Vihar Shah (4/19/15).
HIGH SCHOOL: Rigney, a four-sport athlete for the Pirates, returned to the state finals in tennis as a senior at the No. 1 singles position after winning two matches in Bloomington. He finished his senior regular season with a 25-0 record. Rigney was eliminated in the state quarterfinals after losing a three set match to Yorktown’s Ian Landwehr. Rigney is currently ranked third in the state out of all the seniors from the 2013-14 class by tennisrecruiting.net. In 2010-11, Rigney was a state quarterfinal participant he also was a sectional and regional champion along with earning first team all-district honors and all-state honorable mention honors. He ended his sophomore season with a 20-2 overall record at the No. 1 singles slot. As a junior, Rigney was a sectional champion but lost in the regionals. He was named first team all-District and first team all-state ending that year with a 23-2 ledger.
PERSONAL: Rigney is the son of John and June Rigney, June was inducted into the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association Hall of Fame in February of 2013. She played high school tennis at Jennings County High School where she amassed a 105-4 record at the No. 1 singles position. Rigney went on to play at the University of Indianapolis. From 2002-07, Rigney coached girls high school tennis at Greensburg High School, where she compiled a 72-24 record with three conference and sectional titles.
