Women's Golf Places Seventh at Colonel Classic

Manon Tounalom posts top-10 finish to lead Cardinals
RICHMOND, Ky. -- The Ball State women's golf team finished seventh at Eastern Kentucky's Colonel Classic with a two-round total of 610 (307-303).

Manon Tounalom tied for ninth to lead the Cardinals after firing rounds of 75 each of the past two days at the University Club at Arlington.
Â
The tournament was originally scheduled for 54 holes but was shortened to 36 due to wet course conditions created by heavy rains.
Â
Xavier beat Eastern Kentucky in a playoff to win the team championship. Both teams finished regulation with scores of 595 (+19). Western Kentucky finished one shot out of the playoff to take third place in the 14-team field.

WKU's Mary Joiner edged Akron's Danielle Nicholson in a playoff for medalist honors. Both players were even par after 36 holes.

Tounalom (+6) posted her second top-10 finish and fourth top-20 result of the season. Sydney Anderson (+8), who won Colonel Classic a year ago and led BSU to the team title, tied for 20th this week. She entered the final round tied for fourth after an opening 73 but closed with a 79.

Freshmen Liz Kim (+11) and Emily Knouff (+11) tied for 35th for the Cardinals. Kim led Ball State with a 74 in the final round.

The Cardinals will return to action April 7-8 at Bowling Green's Dolores Black Invitational at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
