Gymnastics Hosts Eastern Michigan for Senior Day

MUNCIE, Ind.,-- The Ball State Cardinals host Eastern Michigan Mar. 4 at 1 p.m. EST in Worthen Arena for their annual Senior Day. The team will host Olympic Silver Medalist and NCAA Champion Samantha Peszek as the meet's special guest.
"The team has an energy about them coming off a close meet with NIU," head coach Joanna Saleem said. "They are hungry and ready to compete for the win at home."
The Cardinals started the competition on bars. They managed to score a team total of 48.950, which marks the season's second best total. Sophomore, Maddie Macdonald swung into third place with a 9.850. Vicky Garcia, Jillian Hacker and Jordyn Penny tied for fifth place scoring 9.800.Â
On vault Bri Slonim stood second place overall scoring a 9.800. In her vault debut, Clare Collins placed fifth with a 9.725.
Freshman Tia Kiaku tumbled into second place with a career high and record book entry score of 9.900.Â
On beam Ball State lead off Bri Slonim and freshman Vicky Garcia tied in third place overall with scores of 9.775.Â
The Cardinals continue on the road for the rest of their conference play at Western Michigan Mar. 3, at 4 p.m. then at Central Michigan Mar. 15 at 7 p.m. before they travel for the Mid American Conference Championships at Central Michigan Mar. 24.Â
