Butler Scores Four Runs Late to Earn 6-2 Win Over Ball State

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Host Butler broke up a 2-2 tie with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn a 6-2 victory over the Ball State baseball team Wednesday afternoon.
Butler (13-2) took the lead for good on Garrett Christman's sacrifice fly ball in the seventh. A key two-out error allowed the inning to continue and the Bulldogs capitalized with three more runs.
Ball State (8-8) had its chances to score in the final three innings as the Cardinals stranded seven base runners in that span. Overall, Ball State went 1-for-13 (.077) with runners on base and left 13 runners on base.
Seniors Colin Brockhouse and Jeff Riedel each finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Brockhouse's RBI single in the first gave Ball State an early 1-0 lead. Riedel had an RBI groundout in the fourth to even the score at 2-all.
For Butler, Christman tallied two RBIs while his brother, Connor Christman, also had a pair of RBIs. Meanwhile, Tyler Houston went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored.
The Bulldogs have now won two straight and five of the last seven meetings against Ball State.
Next up for the Cardinals is their home opener against Dayton on Friday, March 16. Frist pitch of the four-game series is set for 3 p.m.
