Women's Golf Finishes Ninth at Spring Break Shootout

Liz Kim, Manon Tounalom tie for 21st to lead Cardinals in Florida
DADE CITY, Fla. -- The Ball State women's golf team wrapped up the Spring Break Shootout in ninth place Tuesday at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club.

The Cardinals carded a final-round score of 313 to drop two spots in a tight middle portion of the leaderboard. Liz Kim and Sydney Anderson each shot 77 to lead the way, while BSU also counted a 79 from Manon Tounalom and an 80 from Emily Knouff.

Kim, who shot 77 in all three rounds this week, and Tounalom tied for 21st place after leading the Cardinals with 54-hole totals of 231 (+15).

Tournament co-host Western Kentucky extended its overnight lead to win by 24 strokes with a total of 880 (+16). Jacksonville (+40) was the runner-up in the 14-team field. Florida Gulf Coast (+45), the other co-host, finished third.

Ball State (+65) was ninth but finished just one shot out of seventh. Along with Kim and Tounalom, Anderson (T34) and Knouff (T42) finished among the top half of the field.

Western Kentucky's Mary Joiner ran away with individual medalist honors, finishing at 4 under par. She entered the day with a four-shot lead and ended it eight shots clear of the runner-up, her WKU teammate Georgina Blackman.

Ball State will return to action March 30-31 at the EKU Colonel Classic at the University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Kentucky. The Cardinals have three events remaining before the Mid-American Conference Championships.
