Women's Golf Closes Strong to Finish Seventh at Rio Verde

Manon Tounalom ties for 19th to lead three Cardinals in top 30
RIO VERDE, Ariz. -- The Ball State women's golf team matched the lowest score of the final round Sunday to move up four spots on the final leaderboard at the Rio Verde Invitational.

The Cardinals closed with a round of 299 on the Quail Run course at Rio Verde Country Club. They finished the 54-hole event tied for seventh place out of 17 teams with a total of 919 (+55).

Tournament champion Seton Hall also shot a 299 in the final round to finish at 902 (+38), one shot clear of second-place Akron.

Liz Kim led Ball State with a 1-over-par 73 in the final round. The Cardinals also counted a pair of 75's from Manon Tounalom and Emily Knouff and a 76 from Morgan Nadaline.

Tounalom tied for 19th place to pace three Cardinals in the top 30 on the final individual leaderboard at 228 (+12). Knouff was one shot behind her in 23rd, and Nadaline was one shot back of Knouff in 26th.

Akron's Danielle Nicholson was the individual medalist at 214 (-2), finishing six strokes clear of her teammate Jacinta Pikunas for the top spot.

Ball State will return to action March 12-13 at Florida Gulf Coast's Spring Break Shootout at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Florida.
