Men's Hoops Has Winning Streak Snapped against Western Michigan
February 24, 2018 | Men's Basketball
Sean Sellers sets BSU career 3-point record on Senior Night
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Tahjai Teague scored 24 points and Trey Moses had another double-double, but Western Michigan overtook the Ball State men's basketball team down the stretch to spoil the Cardinals' Senior Night, 87-80.
Â
Senior guard Sean Sellers became Ball State's all-time leader in 3-pointers and was one of four Cardinals to score double figures, but BSU saw its five-game winning streak snapped in front of nearly 6,000 fans at Worthen Arena.
Â
The Cardinals (19-10, 10-6 MAC) continue to control their destiny in terms of claiming a top-4 seed and bye in the first round of the MAC Tournament. The Broncos (17-12, 9-7 MAC) are trying to stake their claim to one of those four spots, as well.
Â
Ball State Head Coach James Whitford:
"Western Michigan played a great game. I thought we competed, played as a team and tried to play the game the right way. I thought we played a little tight. You could sense it at the free throw line. But I didn't fault our effort by any stretch of the imagination. It wasn't our best night, but I'm confident we'll learn from it."

Â
• Moses notched his 10th double-double of the season and his third in the last four games. He finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Â
• Teague made nine of his 10 field goal attempts and found his rhythm from long distance, making 3 of 4 from 3-point range. It was his fifth 20-point game in the past nine contests.
Â
• Tayler Persons scored 16 points, and Sellers added 11.
Â
• Reggie Jones led Western Michigan with 20 points, while returning All-MAC guard Thomas Wilder scored 18. The Broncos shot 55 percent in the second half and 52 percent for the game.
Â
• Friday's #MuncieOut attendance figure of 5,924 was the most for the Cardinals since 2013 and the fifth-most in Worthen Arena spanning the last 10 years. Three of the top-10 Worthen Arena crowds in the past decade have come this season.
Â
• Ball State lost for the first time this season when shooting at least 50 percent from the floor. The Cardinals, who shot 53.6 percent tonight, were 11-0 when shooting 50 percent.
