Cardinals part of 17-team field for Friday-Sunday tournament
The Ball State women's golf team will play its first stroke play event of the spring season this weekend at the Rio Verde Invitational in Arizona.
Â
The Cardinals got their feet wet on the course again earlier this month, hosting a match play event in Florida. They finished first of five teams in that event -- the Ball State Sunshine Invitational -- behind unbeaten performances from Manon Tounalom, Liz Kim and Holly Anderson.
Â
This week's competition at Rio Verde Country Club features 17 teams (including eight of the 10 MAC programs): Akron, Arkansas State, Ball State, Bowling Green, Bradley, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Missouri State, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Seton Hall, UALR, UMKC, Western Michigan, Wichita State and Xavier.
Â
The Cardinals will take all seven members of their roster this week. The team's lineup will feature Tounalom, Morgan Nadaline, Sydney Anderson, Kim and Emily Knouff. Additionally, Holly Anderson and Reece Malapit will compete as individuals.
Â
Tounalom, who was Ball State's top finisher in four of the five fall tournaments, led the Cardinals with a 25th-place result last year at Rio Verde.
Â
This year's 54-hole tournament runs Friday through Sunday on the Quail Run course at Rio Verde. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
