Soccer Places Nine on Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced its All-Academic soccer awards on Monday, and the Ball State soccer team landed nine individuals on the list.
Academic honorees for the Cardinals include Lauren Roll, Taylor Pooley, Paula Guerrero, Emily Scott, Sam Kambol, Yela Ziswiler, Allison Abbe, Julia Elvbo and Alessandra Fistrovich.
"I'm very proud of these ladies for embracing the characteristics and values of a Ball State Soccer player," said head coach Craig Roberts. "These individuals exemplify the definition of a student-athlete. They contest for championships on the field and excel in the classroom. Their management of time is outstanding. It is this kind of discipline that has been the foundation of our success."
Roll, Pooley, Fistrovich and Scott have now won the award three years in a row while Guerrero, Ziswiler, Elvbo and Kambol were honored for the second straight season.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
