
WBB Wraps Up Non-Conference Action At Home Sunday Against Urbana

- Ball State enters today's contest on a two-game win streak after defeating Western Kentucky (86-83) and Tennessee St. (90-51). Urbana is currently looking for its first win since Dec. 1. The Blue Knights are currently on a four-game losing streak.
- The Cardinals are closing their non-conference season against Urbana for the second time in three years. Ball State wrapped up non-conference action against the Blue Knights in 2016 on Dec. 28 in Worthen Arena. The Cardinals defeated Urbana that game, 93-49.
- Today's contest marks only the second official meeting between the Cardinals and the Blue Knights with Ball State leading the all-time series record, 1-0. Prior to that contest Ball State had only played Urbana in exhibition games. Â
- The last time the Cardinals played on Dec. 30 at home was last season when Ball State fell to Central Michigan in its Mid-American Conference opener, 69-65.
-The Cardinals are on a two-game winning streak since Dec. 16 when Ball State defeated Western Kentucky by a score of 86-83 at E.A. Diddle Arena. Ball State then dismantled Tennessee State, 90-51, before the holiday break in Worthen Arena on Dec. 21. Jamin Samz led the way agains the Lady Tigers with 17 points while also tying her career high in rebounds with nine. In the last two games, the Cardinals have outscored their opponents by 21 points and have out-rebounded them by nine. Ball State has shot 52 percent (55-of-106) from the field and 68 percent (52-of-77) from the charity stripe.
-Ball State opens Mid-American Conference action on the road against MAC West Division rival Toledo Saturday, Jan. 5 at 2 p.m. The Rockets and the Cardinals will square off for the first of two meetings this year and 80th time overall. The last time Ball State opened MAC action at Toledo was on Dec. 31, 2016, resulting in a 51-45 victory for the Cardinals. That season the Cardinals also ended league play against the Rockets. Ball State's last meeting over Toledo was on Feb. 24 in Muncie, the Cardinals won that game, 78-73. In six seasons, Ball State head Coach Brady Sallee owns a 4-2 record in MAC openers.
- The Blue Knights are looking to snap a four-game losing streak when it plays at Worthen Arena for only the second-time in program history. The other times were exhibition contests. The last time Urbana won was on Dec. 1 when the Blue Knights defeated West Liberty on the road, 80-78.
- Urbana has two players averaging double figures, Sylvia Hudson leads the squad averaging (18.7 ppg) while teammate Nikki Current rounds out the double digit scoring with 10.0 points per contest.
- The Blue Knights are coached by Andrea McCloskey who is in her second season at the helm of Urbana. Prior to Urbana, McCloskey was the head coach at Georgetown College from 2011-17.
