MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State University swimming and diving head coach J. Agnew has announced the hiring of Yorktown, Indiana native Kelsi Hall to his coaching staff.
"We couldn't be more excited to welcome Kelsi Hall to the Cardinal family as our newest assistant coach," Agnew said. "Kelsi's competitive background as an elite sprinter in college and as a post-grad, combined with her educational background in dietetics and nutrition, will be a tremendous asset to our student-athletes and our program as a whole."
Hall was a three-time state champion for Yorktown High School in the 50 Free and went on to swim collegiately for both the University of Kentucky and University of Miami (Florida).
"I worked with J. for many years when I was a young athlete, so I'm very excited to be working alongside him again but this time as a coach," Hall said. "I have a diverse training background with the sport and I'm excited to use all my experience and knowledge to help develop Ball State's swim program."
At Kentucky, Hall was a member of the 2009 NCAA Championship team. After transferring to Miami for her junior season, Hall set a school record in the 50 Free with a time of 22.53. She was also on the school record setting 200 medley relay team that recorded a time of 1:38.88. Hall also had an impressive 13th place finish at the 2016 USA Olympic Trials.
As a senior, Hall became the program's first All-American swimmer under head coach Christie Shefchunas with a tenth-place finish (22.12) in the finals of the NCAA Championships in the 50 Free. She also qualified for the NCAA Championships with a gold medal-winning time of 22.03 at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships, which also broke a personal record.
Hall's first action with the Cardinals will come on Nov. 17 when Ball State travels to Grand Valley State in Michigan for a co-ed meet. BSU will then compete at the three-day Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.
