
WBB Loses First Road Game 74-54 At Missouri State

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – The Ball State women's basketball team (1-2) suffered a 74-54 loss to Missouri State (1-2) in its first road game of the season Saturday afternoon at JQH Arena.
For the game, sophomore forward Oshlynn Brown led the Cardinals in scoring with 16 points, while adding nine rebounds. Senior guard Jasmin Samz scored in double figures for the second-straight game after ending the day with 10 points.
Both teams traded baskets in the opening minutes of play. Missouri State began to make its presence felt under the basket to take a 13-6 lead over Ball State at the media timeout.
After that, the Lady Bears controlled the remainder of the first half. The Cardinals struggled to get their shots to fall in the second quarter and would trail Missouri State by a score of 37-20 at intermission.
Brown opened the third quarter for the Cardinals scoring five points and pulling down six rebounds by the media timeout. Ball State continued to battle but couldn't find its offensive groove the remainder of the quarter.
By the fourth stanza, the Cardinals just couldn't find their way back into the ball game. The closest Ball State would get the remainder of the contest came at the 6:22 mark after Samz knocked down a 3-pointer, making it a 13-point (59-46) contest.
The Ball State women's basketball team will spend Thanksgiving break competing at the Gulf Coast Showcase (Nov. 23-25) in Estero, Fla. The Cardinals will face Fordham for the first time in program history in the opening round Friday at 11 a.m.
After that, the Cardinals will then play the winner between Washington and Duke on Saturday, Nov. 24.
