Swimming and Diving Hosts Eastern Illinois and Akron
November 01, 2018 | Men's Swimming and Diving, Women's Swimming and Diving
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State University swimming and diving team will host Eastern Illinois on Friday (Nov. 2) for a co-ed dual meet, which will serve as the home opener for the 2018-19 season. The women will then compete against Akron a day later on Saturday (Nov. 3).
The meet with Eastern Illinois is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. ET. Saturday's contest with Akron is slated for 1:00 p.m. ET.
The men in particular are eager to get back in the pool as their last competition came over two weeks ago at the Indiana Intercollegiate. The men finished third at that meet behind strong performances from Luke Nondorf in the pool, and Sean Wolfe on the boards.
On the women's side, the Cardinals will be back in action just one week removed from a dual meet with Bowling Green. While BSU came up short in that encounter, there were several bright spots scattered throughout. Diver Rachel Bertram recorded an NCAA Zone cut by scoring a 290.48 on the three meter, while swimmers Katie Walker and Abbie McCarter both finished with career-best times and claimed wins in individual events.
Five different Cardinals have finished with career best times so far this season. In addition to Walker and McCarter, the other three are Jack Luddy (100 Back), Cecilia Moore (400 IM) and Audrey Schank (200 IM).
Admission on Friday and Saturday is free. The teams will also be signing posters at the conclusion of the meets with the men signing on Friday and the women Saturday.
Final results and a recap of the weekend's action will be posted here at BallStateSports.com. Fans can also follow along on social media for updates during the meets.
