CJ Jones Named MAC Golfer of the Week

BSU sophomore finished third at Xavier’s Musketeer Classic

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State's CJ Jones, coming off his best collegiate performance at the Musketeer Classic, was named the Mid-American Conference Men's Golfer of the Week.

The sophomore from Frankfort, Kentucky, fired a career-best 65 (-6) in the opening round at Maketewah Country Club on the way to a third-place finish in the field of 84 golfers. He made four birdies and two eagles in matching the lowest round by a Cardinal since 2009.

Jones, who held the round-one lead, went on to finish third with a 54-hole total of 214 (+1). He led four BSU golfers in the top 12, along with Keegan Bronnenberg (4th), Joey Ranieri (9th) and Timothy Wiseman (12th).

Ball State finished runner-up as a team at the Musketeer Classic, its final event of the fall. The Cardinals will return to action in February when they host the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play in Dade City, Florida.
