About the Cardinals                                     Â
• Ball State visits MAC West Division leader Toledo for the first of two meetings. The Cardinals will host the Golden Flashes on Feb. 17.

• Ball State is coming off a 111-106, double-overtime victory over Akron. It was the Cardinals' second straight overtime game. The 217 combined points were the most in the history of Worthen Arena, while the Cardinals' 111 points tied for the third-most in arena history and the ninth-most in program annals.

• Sophomore forward Tahjai Teague led the Cardinals against Akron with career highs in points (26), rebounds (12) and assists (6). Sophomore point guard Tayler Persons matched him with 26 points, while sophomore center Trey Moses added a career-high 22. It was the first time the Cardinals had three scorers with 20-or-more points since Jan. 29, 2005 when Peyton Stovall (24), Terrance Chapman (24) and Dennis Trammell (21) did it versus Eastern Michigan.

• Sophomore forward Kyle Mallers also netted a career high with 18 points against Akron. In two games last week, Mallers scored a combined 30 points on just 11 field goal attempts, going 8 for 11 from the floor, 5 for 6 from 3-point range and 9 for 10 from the free throw line.

• Senior guard Sean Sellers has hit 13 of 19 (.684) from 3-point range over the past five games. He is the top 3-point shooter in MAC play at 54.3 percent. Sellers also has 25 rebounds over the past three games. He entered the year averaging 2.9 rebounds per game for his career but is averaging 5.5 in league play this season.

• The Cardinals are No. 178 in the Ken Pomeroy ratings as the third-highest team from the MAC (Buffalo is No. 74, Toledo is No. 95). KenPom has had Ball State rated as high as No. 106 this year.

• Toledo has won seven games in a row after dropping its league opener at Buffalo and enters this week with a three-game lead in the MAC West Division standings.
• The Rockets are shooting 51.9 percent from the floor and 46.0 percent from 3-point range during MAC play to lead the league in both categories.
• Toledo is scoring 85.9 points per game in conference play and winning games by an average of 12.1 points (second in both only to Buffalo).
• The Rockets features the league's top scorer in MAC play in Colorado transfer Tre'Shaun Fletcher, a senior guard/forward, and the No. 7 player on that list in junior guard Jaelan Sanford.
• Toledo is playing its eighth season under head coach Tod Kowalczyk, who has guided the Rockets to three postseasons in the past six years.

• Ball State has won three of the four meetings over the past two seasons, including both last year -- 81-80 in Muncie and 82-74 in Toledo.
• Tayler Persons averaged 28.5 points, 6.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds against the Rockets last year. He shot 61.1 percent from the floor and 69.2 percent from beyond the arc.
• In the victory at Toledo, Persons scored Ball State's first 17 points and hit his first eight shots (six from 3-point range) on his way to 31 points.
