Ball State Student-Athletes Post Solid Academic Numbers in Fall Semester

MUNCIE, Ind. – The 2017 fall academic semester was overall a very successful one for Ball State student-athletes.
More than 60 percent of the 442 student-athletes finished the semester with at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA). Thirty-six Cardinals posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall and 147 student-athletes qualified for the Dean's List (3.5 GPA for 12 or more credits of graded course work).
The soccer team finished with the highest team GPA (3.535) during the fall semester, while the men's volleyball team had the best team GPA (3.504) among the seven men's sports. The term GPA for all student-athletes was 3.228.
Sixteen of the 19 varsity sports carry a cumulative team GPA at or above 3.0.
Fourteen student-athletes from nine sports earned their bachelor's degree in December – Rosalinda Calderon (women's tennis), David Current (baseball), Shannon Greeley (soccer), Aly Kohanowski (soccer), Allie Kolz (women's swimming & diving), Miranda Kuehl (gymnastics), Alex Maloney (baseball), Jack Milas (football), David Moore (football), Vinnie Palazeti (football), Collin Rigney (men's tennis), Payton Stonefield (football), Jordan Timmons (cross country/track & field) and Anthony Winbush (football).
