MUNCIE, Ind. - Lilya Hadab of Tangier, Morocco, will join the Ball State women's tennis program this spring, head coach Max Norris announced Thursday.
"I am thrilled to welcome Lilya to Ball State," Norris said. "Lilya is a well-traveled and experienced player on the ITF Junior Circuit. Lilya also has years of experience playing team tennis at the national level in Morocco and the continental level in Africa. There is no doubt in my mind she understands the spirit, passion, and selflessness needed to be a great teammate. Â On top of that, Lilya is a very mature and focused person. I am excited to get to work with her and bring out the best in her game. At the same time, I know she will make us immediately better as a program."
Hada, begins her collegiate career with the Cardinals after having a successful junior career on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Circuit. Â In 2017 Hadab was ranked No. 342 in the world according to the Junior ITF rankings. Â She earned a seventh-place ranking in singles and third place in doubles in the African Senior Championships in 2016.
The Ball State women's tennis team will open its spring season on Jan. 20 at Big Ten foe Northwestern with first serve at 11 a.m. Â The Cardinals' first home match will be a doubleheader on Jan. 28 against Eastern Illinois with the first match beginning at 1:30 p.m. and the second match starting at 4 p.m.
