Morgan Nadaline places 12th, Sydney Anderson closes with 74
YORKTOWN, Ind. -- The Ball State women's golf team finished the Cardinal Classic in a tie for ninth place Tuesday, highlighted by Morgan Nadaline's second-straight top-15 finish at the event.
Nadaline, who tied for 14th a year ago, improved on that result by two spots this week at The Players Club. She carded a final-round 78 to move outside the top 10 but still finished in a tie for 12th with a 54-hole total of 221 (+5).
Sydney Anderson paced the Cardinals with a 74 on the final day, while Manon Tounalom shot 76. Liz Kim joined Nadaline in shooting 78 to round out the team's counting scores. BSU posted a final-round score of 306 to finish with a total of 909 (+45).
The University of Indianapolis maintained its lead throughout the day and finished 13 shots clear of the field to win the team championship at 863 (-1) for three rounds.
Bradley (+12) hung on to second place, while Akron (+19) moved up two spots to grab third in a large field of 19 teams and 100 total players. Akron's Jacinta Pikunas took a three-shot lead into the final round and went on to win by six strokes at 6 under par.
Pikunas' nearest pursuer, Kennedy Holtsclaw of UIndy, moved within two strokes during the final round. She eventually finished as part of a three-way tie for second with teammate Pilar Echeverria and Toledo's Pimchanok Kawil at even par.
Tounalom was Ball State's second-best finisher behind Nadaline. She tied for 29th at 225 (+9). Sydney Anderson and Emily Knouff, who competed as an individual, tied for 53rd.
