Field Hockey Defeats Saint Francis, 2-0

COLLEGE STATION, Pa.– The Ball State field hockey team added another win to the record books in Pennsylvania Friday afternoon. The Cardinals took down Saint Francis in a neutral site contest, 2-0.
Ball State dominated the contest with 12 shots compared to Saint Francis' eight. The Cardinals were also able to get nine shots on goal while the Red Flash only tallied two. Ball State barely edged out the Red Flash on penalty corners racking up 11.
Darbi Gullett was the first Cardinal to score on the day. Gullett dribbled in and shot from the middle of the circle in the 27th minute and connected. Gullett also had one shot and one shot on goal to add to her stat sheet. The second Cardinal score came at the end of the first half. Hillary Scott connected with the back of the cage on a penalty corner with an Anya Eicher assist. This marked Scott's first goal of the season. Scott also added three shots and three shots on goal in the contest.
Other notable performances from the contest include Carley Shannon with two shots and two shots on goal, Abby Ferenczy with two shots and one shot on goal, and Rachel Pereira with one shot and one shot on goal. Kylee Cunningham also added one shot for the day.
In the cage, Grace Chavez recorded the second shutout of her career. Chavez knocked down two saves in the contest.
The Cardinals (4-3) will make the short trip to Bloomington, Ind. Sunday, Sept. 17 to take on the Hoosiers. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
