MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State's Kelsey Sear and Sydney Anderson were named to the Academic All-MAC Team for women's golf, the league announced Thursday.
Sear, a senior from Unionville, Ontario, was named to the team for the third straight year. She owns a 3.364 GPA as a finance major and is set to graduate this weekend.
Anderson, a sophomore from Columbus, Indiana, earned the honor in her first year of eligibility. She carries a 3.341 GPA as a pre-psychology major.
Sear led Ball State this season with a 77.14 scoring average, which ranks fifth all-time on Ball State's single-season chart. She provided a counting score in 35 of the Cardinals' 36 team rounds. Sear posted six top-25 finishes, including a pair of top-5's at the Kzoo Classic and the EKU Colonel Classic.
Anderson notched her first collegiate victory at the EKU Colonel Classic, leading Ball State to the second of two consecutive team titles. She recorded three top-10 finishes and four top-20s. A two-time MAC Golfer of the Week, Anderson ended the season with a 78.73 scoring average.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and participate in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible.
