Caleb Stayton Named CoSIDA Academic All-District For Second Straight Year

MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State senior baseball player Caleb Stayton was recently honored on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ team for his combined performance on the field and in the classroom.
Stayton was one of 11 players selected from District 5, which encompasses all Division I universities in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. He was one of four Mid-American Conference players to make the list.
The first baseman from Goshen, Indiana, currently ranks second on the team in batting average (.336) and among the league leaders in on-base percentage (.451). He recently had a 14-game hitting streak snapped which included a 3-for-3 performance with a home run, five RBIs and four runs scored against Bowling Green on April 15.
In the classroom, Stayton carries a 3.92 GPA in telecommunications. He is set to earn his Ball State bachelor's degree this weekend.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America® honorees will be selected later this month.
To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® accolades, student-athletes must have a key role on the field while maintaining a 3.30 cumulative GPA and must have reached sophomore standing.
Stayton was a CoSIDA first team Academic All-American last year.
