Men’s Golf Trio Named Academic All-MAC

Wiseman, VanDeventer, Watts earn recognition
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State men's golf team placed three representatives on the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team announced Friday by the league office.
Juniors Johnny Watts and Michael VanDeventer were named to the team for the second straight year, while sophomore Timothy Wiseman earned the honor in his first year of eligibility.
Wiseman owns a 3.729 GPA as a pre-business major. The Corydon, Indiana, product ranked second on Ball State's team with a 73.97 scoring average and provided a counting score in 29 of his 31 rounds (93.5 percent). He recorded four top-20 finishes and a pair of top-10s, including a second-place result at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate.
VanDeventer owns a 3.429 GPA as an exercise science major. The Columbus, Indiana, product finished the year with a 74.00 scoring average, four top-20 finishes and three top-10s. VanDeventer recorded his first collegiate victory by sharing medalist honors at the Earl Yestingsmeier Memorial Invitational. He logged three of Ball State's top four individual 54-hole scores for the year.
Watts owns a 3.417 GPA as a finance major. The Fishers, Indiana, product earned All-MAC honors for the third year in a row and MAC All-Tournament Team recognition for the second time in his career after a third-place finish at the league championships. He led Ball State with a 72.91 scoring average and nine rounds in the 60's. Watts recorded five top-10 finishes in 11 stroke-play events.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and participate in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible.
