Cardinals finish eighth, set sights on MAC Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Kelsey Sear closed with an even-par 72, the fourth-best round Sunday, on the final day of the IU Invitational.
Sear climbed into a tie for 11th place to lead the Cardinals with a 54-hole total of 226 (+10) at the Indiana University Golf Course. Her round Sunday featured three birdies and an eagle.
Ball State finished eighth as a team with a total of 945 (+81) after posting a final-round 312. In addition to Sear's 72, the Cardinals also counted a 76 from Allison Lindley and a pair of 82's from Manon Tounalom and Morgan Nadaline.
Tournament host Indiana extended its overnight lead to win by 15 strokes with a score of 884 (+20). Toledo (+35) finished second, while Western Michigan (+37) was third.
Indiana's Alix Kong was the individual medalist, finishing two strokes clear of the field at 2-under-par 214.
Manon Tounalom was the second Ball State player on the leaderboard in a tie for 35th, followed by Morgan Nadaline (T40), Sydney Anderson (T46) and Allison Lindley (T46).
The Cardinals will now prepare for the Mid-American Conference Championships, set for April 21-23 at Silver Lake Country Club in northeast Ohio.
