Women’s Golf Takes Seventh at MAC Championships

Senior Kelsey Sear finishes as top Cardinal on individual leaderboard

SILVER LAKE, Ohio -- The Ball State women's golf team closed out the Mid-American Conference Championships tied for seventh place Sunday.
The Cardinals finished with a 54-hole total of 954 (+90), matching Eastern Michigan for seventh, after closing with a round of 327 at Silver Lake Country Club.
Kelsey Sear, who led the way with a 78 in the final round, finished as the top Ball State player on the individual leaderboard in 29th place with a score of 237 (+21). The senior regrouped after a tough first day to lead the Cardinals in both of the final two rounds.
Kent State, the nation's 15th-ranked team, extended its lead Sunday to win with a total of 875 (+11). The Golden Flashes' Michaela Finn claimed medalist honors as the only player in red figures at 2 under par.
Northern Illinois (+45) finished as runner-up on the team leaderboard, while Western Michigan (+58) and Ohio (+58) tied for third.
Ball State also counted an 82 from Manon Tounalom, an 83 from Allison Lindley and an 84 from Morgan Nadaline in the final round.
Sydney Anderson was the second Ball State player on the final leaderboard in a tie for 30th, followed by Tounalom (T36), Nadaline (T39) and Lindley (T41).
Silver Lake proved to be a challenge all weekend. The average score for the field was higher than 78 in all three rounds.
The Cardinals have now concluded their 2016-17 season, which was highlighted by a pair of victories this spring at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate and the EKU Colonel Classic.
