Men's Tennis Wraps Up MAC Regular Season Play With 4-3 Loss At Binghamton

The Cardinals began the day strong after taking doubles wins on courts one and two to take the early 1-0 edge over the Bearcats. On the top court for Ball State, the senior duo of Lucas Andersen and Andrew Stutz registered a 6-3 victory over Lodovico Cestarollo and Kushaan Nath to give the Cardinals their first doubles match. Twin brothers Marko and Nemanja Guzina then clinched the doubles point with their 6-3 defeat over Inigo Saez and Frenk Kote at the No. 3 position.
After that, the Cardinals were unable to carry its early momentum into singles play. Binghamton took four of the six courts from Ball State for the close win. Nemanja Guzina and Conner Andersen both took down their respective opponents in straight sets. Nemanja Guzina beat Thomas Caputo on court four, 6-2, 6-4 and at the No. 6 spot in the lineup, Conner Andersen claimed a 6-4, 7-5 decision over Inigo Saez.
Despite the loss, the Ball State men's tennis team will play at the 2017 Mid-American Conference Tournament as the No. 3 seed next weekend. The Cardinals take on host No. 2 Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. at Sorensen Courts, weather permitting. If moved indoors, the match will be played at West Hills Athletic Club.
