Makris Leads Men's Golf on Day 2 at Vanderbilt

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Michael Makris led the Ball State men's golf team Saturday with a 72 (+1) in the second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship.

The Cardinals posted a score of 301 as a team to run their two-day total to 604 (+36) on the South Course at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. BSU is 14th on the leaderboard with one round to play.

A trio of SEC schools leads the way. Alabama (-18) jumped to the top of the leaderboard Saturday, while sixth-ranked Florida (-17) is second and third-ranked Vanderbilt (-14) is third. The event features eight of the top 75 teams in the Golfstat national rankings.

Alabama's Josh Sedeno is tied atop the individual leaderboard with Sam Horsfield and Andy Zhang of Florida at 6 under par.

Makris moved up to a tie for 45th as the top Ball State player at 146 (+4). Timothy Wiseman was steady for the second straight day and is one shot behind Makris in a tie for 49th.

Ball State also counted a 74 from Michael VanDeventer, a 75 from Wiseman and an 80, turned in by both Johnny Watts and Colin Proctor, in the second round.
