Cardinals set to tee it up again Friday in Richmond, Kentucky
LIVE SCORING
Fresh off a victory at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, the Ball State women's golf team is set to continue a busy week at the EKU Colonel Classic in Richmond, Kentucky.
The 54-hole tournament will be played over two days, starting Friday morning at the University Club at Arlington. The teams will play 36 holes on the opening day with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
Ball State rolls into Kentucky after winning earlier this week in Williamsburg, Virginia. The Cardinals held off hard-charging Delaware and William & Mary in Tuesday's final round to win by one stroke on the River Course at Kingsmill Resort.
Allison Lindley, whose par on the 18th hole secured the victory, shared individual medalist honors for the first title of her college career. Manon Tounalom tied for 13th, while Kelsey Sear tied for 28th. Sydney Anderson and Morgan Nadaline also finished among the top half of a large field.
The success at Kingsmill continued a trend of good golf for Ball State over the past three tournaments. Lindley leads the team during that stretch with a 74.56 scoring average, followed by Tounalom at 75.2 and Sear at 76.0.
The Cardinals will look to continue their strong play this week against a 13-team field that includes Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee Tech, Louisiana-Monroe, Austin Peay, Belmont, Morehead State, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Cleveland State, Youngstown State, Dayton and the University of the Cumberlands.
Ball State has a history of success at the Colonel Classic. The Cardinals have competed in the event four times in the past five years, placing no worse than fourth and finishing runner-up twice, including last year's second-place result.
With the exception of Tounalom, a freshman, the rest of this week's Ball State lineup competed in the event last year. All four of them finished in the top 20, led by Lindley in fourth place.
