No. 4 Oregon State Takes Finale Against Ball State, 8-4

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State racked up six two-out RBIs in the series finale against Ball State on the way to an 8-4 win Saturday afternoon at Goss Stadium. The No. 4 Beavers (14-1) have now won nine consecutive games.
Oregon State never trailed as the home team notched single runs in the first and third innings to grab an early 2-0 lead.
Ball State (8-8) got on the board in the fifth inning when sophomore Roman Baisa pushed across fellow sophomore Griffin Hulecki with a squeeze bunt.
However, the Beavers responded with six runs in their next four at-bats to pull away. Trevor Larnach, Michael Gretler and Nick Madrigal combined to go 7-for-11 at the plate with three RBIs.
Oregon State starting pitcher Jake Thompson improved to 4-0 by tossing 7.1 innings, striking out eight batters and allowing just one run.
Baisa, junior Jeff Riedel and freshman Joe Gunn tallied RBIs for the Cardinals. Meanwhile, junior Seth Freed went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored a run.
Ball State is back in action next weekend with a home-and-home series against Dayton. The two teams will meet in Dayton on Friday, March 17 before playing a doubleheader in Muncie on Saturday, March 18.
