Women's Tennis Rolls Past Illinois State, 6-1, Saturday

In doubles play, Isabelle Dohanics and Julia Sbircea topped Andrea Beneroso and Valerija Gercar in a 6-4 decision on court three to tally Ball State's first win. Illinois State then evened the score when the Redbirds took the top court by a score of 6-4 over Peyton Gollhofer and Audrey Berger. Rosalinda Calderon and Rebecca Herrington clinched the doubles point for the Cardinals with their 6-4 defeat over Jana Kustkova and Gabriela Sprague.
Calderon collected the first singles win for Ball State and then teammate Toni Ormond responded with a straight set victory over Sprague at the No. 4 position. Dohanics and Herrington followed suit with straight set wins over their respective opponents securing the match for the Cardinals. Blanco was also a winner after defeating Jelena Karla Vujici, 6-0, 7-6 (4).
The Ball State women's tennis team continues spring action when it hosts Wright State Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
