Cardinal Notes:
• The Ball State women's basketball team remains on the road when it plays at Miami Saturday, Feb. 4 at noon (EST) on ESPN3 live at Millett Hall. The Cardinals remained undefeated (5-0) against their Mid-American Conference cross-division match-ups after an impressive 90-63 road win at Akron Wednesday night in James A. Rhodes Arena. So far Ball State has defeated MAC East opponents, Akron twice, Kent State, Bowling Green and Buffalo.
• Sophomore guard Destiny Washington was the spark the Cardinals needed at Akron Wednesday night coming off the bench scoring a career high 25 points. Washington was the best shooter on the team that night after going 11-of-13 from the field.
• Miami holds a 7-15 record heading into today's contest and a 1-8 MAC record. The RedHawks have lost five-straight with their last win being on Jan. 11 at home against Eastern Michigan (72-61). Lauren Dickerson is the lone RedHawk that is currently scoring in double figures averaging 14.9 points per game.
• Saturday's game against Miami will mark the 65th time in program history the two schools have met with the Cardinals leading the all-time series 44-20. The last time Ball State beat Miami in Oxford Jan. 28, 2015 in Millett Hall by a score of 72-55. The Cardinals defeated the RedHawks last season in Worthen Arena, 66-41. Under the direction of Brady Sallee the Cardinals are 5-0 against the RedHawks from 2013-Present.
• Ball State women's basketball junior forward Moriah Monaco has been named Mid-American West Division Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday. Monaco helped the Cardinals improve to 7-2 in conference action last week for its best MAC start since the 2008-09 season. The junior from Dover, Ohio, started the week off with a career-high 35 points while tying her personal-best in 3-pointers made (8), helping the Cardinals earn an 89-75 road win at Buffalo last Wednesday night in Alumni Arena. On Saturday, Monaco led the Cardinals again in scoring with a 23-point performance against Northern Illinois. She has now scored in double figures in all but one of Ball State's 21 games this season. For the week, Monaco averaged 29.0 points and made 11 from behind the arc while shooting 50.0 percent from the field (20-of-40). She also added 7.0 rebounds per contest.
