Soccer Tops Butler 2-0 to Open Spring

Allison Abbe, Lorina White score goals in victory

WESTFIELD, Ind. -- The Ball State soccer team opened its spring season indoors Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Big East foe Butler.

Lorina White and Allison Abbe scored the goals for the two-time defending Mid-American Conference regular season champions.

Ball State had several other scoring chances and even had a third goal disallowed after an offside call.

"I was very pleased with the performance," Ball State coach Craig Roberts said. "I thought the girls carried out the game plan that we implemented. It was consistent waves of attack.

"It was good to consistently see players that have been put into different positions carrying out their responsibilities and executing what we've been looking for," Roberts said. "It was a good win against a very good Butler team."

The Cardinals will continue their spring schedule March 18 against Tiffin at 1 p.m.
