Cardinals open Rio Verde Invitational Friday

The Ball State women's golf team is back in action this week with the Rio Verde Invitational, hosted by Western Michigan in Rio Verde, Arizona.
The action begins Friday with a 1 p.m. MT (3 ET) shotgun start on the White Wing Course at Rio Verde Country Club. The tournament continues Saturday and Sunday with 8:30 a.m. start times both days. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
Ball State is one of eight Mid-American Conference teams in the field, along with Akron, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Ohio and Western Michigan.
The 19-team field also includes Arkansas State, Bradley, Central Arkansas, Illinois State, Missouri State, Northern Arizona, Seton Hall, Little Rock, UMKC, Wichita State and Xavier.
Ball State is set for its second event of the spring season, coming off a fifth-place finish at its own Sunshine Invitational in Florida two weeks ago.
Freshman Manon Tounalom led the Cardinals with a career-best fifth-place finish in Florida and will occupy the No. 1 spot in the lineup this week.
Tounalom will be joined by Kelsey Sear, Allison Lindley, Sydney Anderson and Morgan Nadaline.
