Cardinal Notes:
• The Ball State women's basketball team returns to Mid-American Conference action after having a bi-week, when the Cardinals travel to Northern Illinois Saturday for a 2 p.m. (EST) tipoff in the Convocation Center. The game will be aired live on ESPN3. Ball State is looking to bounce back from its 72-68 loss to MAC East Division leader Ohio Saturday in Worthen Arena. The Cardinals bring a 17-8 overall record and a 10-3 league ledger to Northern Illinois. The Cardinals suffered a 101-96 setback to the Huskies in their first meeting on Jan. 28 in Worthen Arena.
• The Huskies nearly lost to Miami Wednesday in Oxford, Ohio but came up with the 63-61 win over the RedHawks. The battle for the top spot in the MAC West is still up for grabs with only five games remaining. The Huskies sit in second with an overall record of 18-6 while having a 11-2 conference mark. Both Northern Illinois and Ball State have lost to MAC West Division leader Central Michigan. Currently the Huskies are riding a two-game win streak with both the wins coming against teams from the MAC East.
• Saturday's game against Northern Illinois will mark the 52nd time in program history the two schools have met with Ball State leading the series 34-17. Ball State has won 19 of its last 25 meetings dating back to 2005-06. Ball State fell to the Huskies in its first meeting in Worthen Arena on Jan. 28 by a score of 101-96. The Cardinals split with the Huskies in 2014-15 during the MAC regular season but swept them in 2015-16. Ball State defeated Northern Illinois at the Convocation Center 73-57 last year and then at home 76-68 in Worthen Arena. Ball State swept the series in 2012-13 and 2013-14 over Northern Illinois prior to the 2014-15 season. Brady Sallee currently owns an 8-2 record, against the Huskies and has never lost in DeKalb.
