Soccer’s Lauren Roll Voted HERO of the Week

Junior midfielder becomes second BSU player this year to win the award
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State's Lauren Roll was chosen as the HERO of the Week for Division I women's soccer, as selected by a nationwide fan vote.
The award, presented by HERO Sports, recognizes the best individual performances of the week for NCAA sports. Roll received nearly 50 percent of the total vote to beat out the other nine candidates from around the country.
A junior midfielder from Cincinnati, Roll is the second Ball State player to be named the HERO of the Week this season. Sophomore midfielder Julia Elvbo won the award earlier this year after a big goal-scoring weekend in victories over Ohio and Kent State.
Roll scored Ball State's first goal in Sunday's 2-1 victory over Northern Illinois after making a tremendous one-on-one move. Her goal helped the second-seeded Cardinals advance to the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
Ball State meets up with No. 3 seed Toledo today at 4 p.m. in Kent, Ohio. The winner advances to Sunday's championship game to face either Kent State or Bowling Green.
