Soccer Leads League with 13 Academic All-MAC Players

Seniors Alyssa Heintschel, Lucy Walton named to team for third straight year
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State soccer team had 13 players named to the 2017 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team. The Cardinals tied for the most honorees in the league with Toledo and Western Michigan.

Student-athletes with a 3.20 GPA who participate in at least 50 percent of their team's games are named to the team. First-year players and junior college transfers are not eligible.

Seniors Alyssa Heintschel and Lucy Walton were named to the team for the third year in a row. Shannon Greeley, Alessandra Fistrovich, Taylor Pooley, Lauren Roll and Emily Scott earned the recognition for the second straight year.

The Cardinals were also represented by Sam Mattlin, Paula Guerrero, Lauren Lerew, Julia Elvbo, Sam Kambol and Yela Ziswiler.

Heintschel and Ziswiler were named to the team with perfect 4.0 GPAs.
Â
Ball State finished the 2017 season 11-7-3 overall and won the MAC West Division for the third straight year with a record of 8-1-2 in conference play.
