Jack Cunningham Named MAC Golfer of the Week

Freshman led Cardinals with tie for fourth place in North Carolina
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State freshman Jack Cunningham was named the Mid-American Conference Men's Golfer of the Week.

Cunningham tied for fourth place out of 93 golfers at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate, finishing just three shots off the lead. The Vincennes, Indiana, product posted three consecutive under-par rounds to finish with a collegiate-best 54-hole total of 207 (-6). His score tied the fourth-best mark in program history.

Cunningham opened with a career-low round of 68 at Kilmaric Golf Club in Powell's Point, North Carolina, and followed it up with rounds of 69 at 70. He made 14 birdies for the week, tying for the third-most of any player.

Ball State finished runner-up in a field of 18 teams, placing all five of its golfers in the top 30. The Cardinals recorded a three-round total of 835 and matched the school record for lowest score in relation to par at 17 under.

BSU will conclude its fall season Nov. 3-5 with a trip to Hawaii to compete for the third straight year at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic.
