Men’s Swimming and Diving Falls to IUPUI and Xavier in Dual Meet

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Ball State men's swimming and diving team fell to both IUPUI and Xavier Friday afternoon in its first action since December. Ball State fell to IUPUI with a final score of 191.50 to 50.50. The Cardinals fell to Xavier with a score of 151.00 to 76.00.

The men's swimming and diving team will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Eastern Michigan. Meet time is set for 1 p.m.

Top performances of the day were:
- The Cardinals had a sixth place finish in 200 medley relay with a time of 1:38.46. The relay was made up of freshman Chase Jackson, sophomore Cullen Tyler, senior Tanner Barton and senior Austin Green.
- Junior Isaac Walling had a time of 10:08.29 in the 1000 freestyle, earning a fourth place finish. Walling also had a seventh place finish in the 500 freestyle at 4:57.24.
- Senior JD Middleton placed sixth in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:19.21. Middleton also had an eighth place finish in the 500 freestyle after touching the wall at 4:58.44.
- Freshman Jack Luddy had a seventh place finish in the 1000 freestyle with a final time of 10:25.17 and a 10th place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:04.87.
- Senior Tanner Barton earned a sixth place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:46.23. Barton also placed second in the 100 butterfly with a final time of 52.26.
- Freshman Ben Andrew's time of 21.76 earned him a second place finish in the 50 freestyle. Andrew's time of 48.34 placed him in seventh in the 100 freestyle.
- Senior Austin Green tied for fourth place in the 50 freestyle at 21.86. Green also had a sixth place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.04.
- Senior Jacob Eckert placed sixth in the 200 IM after touching the wall at 2:02.19.
- Sophomore Cullen Tyler had a time of 2:07.94 earning him a 10th place finish in the 200 IM and a sixth place finish in the 100 breaststroke at 1:01.03.
- Sophomore Alec Tuthill's time of 53.04 in the 100 butterfly put him in sixth place.
- Freshman Chase Jackson placed seventh in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.22.
- Freshman Logan Ackley finished in ninth place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.31.
- Junior Zach Toman earned an eighth place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a final time of 1:01.67.
- Sophomore Zach Reichle's time of 1:02.01 placed him in ninth in the 100 breaststroke.
The men's swimming and diving team will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Eastern Michigan. Meet time is set for 1 p.m.
