
Gymnastics to Host No. 6 Kentucky

MUNCIE, Ind. -- After a successful team performance of 194.950 in Raleigh, N.C. against NC State (194.850) and William and Mary (192.275) the Ball State gymnastics team will host No. 6 Kentucky Sunday, Jan. 29 at 1:00 p.m. EST in Worthen Arena.
"I'm excited to welcome Kentucky to Worthen Arena this Sunday," head coach Joanna Saleem said. "I feel really good about where the team is so far this season. Our focus has been to improve a little bit each week, making sure our routines are solid and confident so we can reach our goals at the end of the season."
The Cardinals started last week against NC State and William and Mary on floor where Senior, Kayla Beckler stood second with a score of 9.800.
On vault Sydney Finke scored a 9.850, marking a career high and taking home first place. Teammates Jordyn Penny and Sarah Ebeyer tied for third with a score of 9.825.Â
Kaitlyn Menzione earned a new career high on bars scoring a 9.800 landing her in third place with teammate Jordyn Penny. Freshman, Rachel Benoit captured a personal best in ninth place with a score of 9.700.
The team concluded the meet on beam. Penny managed a career high of 9.800 landing her in second place.
Kaitlyn Menzione placed second with an overall score of 38.975 beating her previous personal best in the all-around competition.
The Cardinals travel to Washington D.C. to compete in a tri-meet against George Washington and New Hampshire University Sunday, Feb. 5 at 1:00 p.m. EST in the Smith Center.
"It's going to be exciting for the team to travel east to the nations capitol," Saleem stated. "We will get some experience and exposure against a couple of highly ranked teams that are doing really well this year. Also, we will be able to see how our performances match up against other teams around the country."
