"We had some really positive things happen tonight," head coach Joanna Saleem said. "Although we had some mistakes the team stayed united throughout the competition and finished strong on the last event. As a team we didn't quite live up to last meets' expectations and we want to acknowledge that so we can continue to improve week to week."
The Cardinals started the competition strong on vault with 9.750 fifth place finish by Shelby Arms.
On bars, Kayla Beckler claimed first place with a personal best score of 9.850. Jordyn Penny scored a 9.800 landing her in fourth place.
The Cardinals had a strong showing on beam where Junior Baylee Bell earned a career high of 9.850 and placing second.
The team concluded the competition on floor where three Cardinals stood on the top of the podium. Kaitlyn Menzione claimed a personal best 9.900 first place finish, while Sydney Finke and Kayla Beckler followed in second with scores of 9.825.
"Kaitlyn, Baylee and Shelby all had great performances tonight," Saleem stated. "It's nice to see consistent routines scoring really well. Our focus now is to continue to practice consistency as we prepare for our road competition against GW and NHU this weekend."
The Cardinals travel to the nation's capital to compete against George Washington and New Hampshire Sunday Feb. 5, at 1:00 p.m. EST in the Smith Center.
